On September 10, 1928 - Charles and Emma Houston acquired the land that is currently Houston Lake from Alma Brenner Hauette.

According to State records the dam was completed in 1930.

On June 4, 1946 - The Venetian Gardens Homes Association was legally formed.

John Banzhaf became the first president of the Venetian Gardens Homes

Association.

On November 16, 1956 - Robert and Ruth Johnson sold their share of the Parks, Pathways, Dam and Lake to the Homes Association for $1.00

On December 10, 1956 - J. Pearl Houston sold her share of the Parks, Pathways, Dam and Lake to the Homes Association for $1.00

On July 5, 1957 - Flossie Johnson sold her share of the Parks, Pathways, Dam and Lake to the Homes Association for $1.00

During August 1957- Rev. Virgil G. Nalley, pastor of Hillside Christian Church, performed an outdoor baptism for 12 persons at the beach area.

On October 22, 1960 - A special election was held to form The City of Houston Lake, Mo. The vote total (76 for and 18 against)

On April 22, 1965 The City of Houston Lake and Kansas City Power & Light signed a contract for the first street lights within the city limits.

On April 8, 1968 The Venetian Gardens Homes Association signed a Deed that gave the City of Houston Lake the land where our City Hall now stands.
