The Oversight Committee was formed with the purpose of overseeing the ByLaws, the Rules and Regulations, and the Restrictions documents that govern the Venetian Gardens Homes Association (VGHA.) I was asked to be the representative of the VGHA board.

Five changes were approved in the ByLaws and three in the Rules and Regs by vote of the community in October of 2022.  Those changes were incorporated into the documents published here.  However, the need to review these documents is an ongoing process and the committee has begun their work.

We are grateful to the previous board for bringing this necessity to our attention. It has been many years since this was attempted. I now see what an ambitious undertaking it is. As we pick up the mantle to continue this work, we are lucky to have members of this committee with the experience and the diligence to accomplish it.

After many months of review, research and revision, we have reached the point of approaching the board with a recommended draft of the Bylaws.  Our first meeting with the board brought up questions and concerns. Consequently, it goes back to the committee for revisions.  This process will repeat until the board and the committee have a document that is ready for the membership to vote on.

Once that is accomplished, a legal review will take place.  Then, it will be opened up for the membership to review and small group meetings will be set up for members to ask questions and express any concerns.  This process will not be rushed.  Change takes time and we are all a part of it.

Our progress in this endeavor will be posted here with the minutes of our committee meetings. In this way, the members can see what we are doing. It gives you, as a member, the time to review, reflect and ask questions.

The committee will also work on the Rules & Regulations document, as well as the Restrictions agreement in due time.  We will also establish a timeline for an annual review of these documents, so they are properly updated in the future. It should get easier with oversight.
